A WORLD BEYOND THE TEXTBOOK

So much to discover.
So many ways to begin.

From tiny living things to distant worlds, WonderQuest makes space for the subjects that spark an Explorer’s next “why?”.

A doorway into unfamiliar ideas

WonderQuest is designed to expose children to a broad range of subjects beyond their regular textbooks. The purpose is not to rush through a catalogue. It is to give an Explorer the chance to meet an idea, ask a question and discover an interest they might otherwise miss.

The themes below reflect real subject areas in the project. The questions alongside them illustrate the kinds of ideas a theme can open; they are not a promise that these exact activities appear in every app version.

Look up, look closer, ask why

Space & Astronomy

Planets, moons and the sky invite questions about what we can see and what lies farther away. Why does the Moon appear to shine?

Animals

Explore living creatures, their characteristics and their habitats. What helps an animal live where it does?

Dinosaurs

Meet life from the distant past and the clues it left behind. What can a fossil help us investigate?

Biology

Consider living things and the systems that keep them going. How do different parts of an organism work together?

Microscopic Biology

Look beyond what we can see unaided. What might a microscope reveal in a tiny drop of water?

Physics

Notice patterns in movement, light and forces. What happens when something starts moving, changes direction or slows down?

Mechanics

Investigate how things move and how mechanisms work. How might a lever make a task easier?

Geology & Dynamic Earth

Explore rocks and a planet that changes over time. What clues can a landscape hold about its past?

Ecology & Conservation

Think about relationships between living things and their surroundings. What changes when one part of a habitat changes?

World History

Discover people, places and ideas from different times. What can an object tell us about how people once lived?

Astrobiology

Explore questions about life and the conditions it might need beyond Earth. Distinguish questions scientists investigate from things already known.

Matter & Energy

Consider what things are made of and how change happens. Where do we notice materials changing in everyday life?

Different questions for different stages

Content can be matched to age groups and vary in difficulty. A younger Explorer may begin with recognising an animal or noticing a pattern; an older Explorer may connect several ideas in a scenario. Not every theme, activity or difficulty is available to every age group or in every release.

The learning loop adds explanations and chances to revisit an idea. An Explorer does not need to know a subject already to be curious about it. Parents can help choose an inviting starting point without turning the experience into a syllabus.

Let one subject lead somewhere unexpected

An interest in dinosaurs can lead to rocks, changing environments and the story of life. A space question may lead to light, movement or the conditions living things need. These connections are part of the appeal of exploring beyond textbook boundaries.

After a quest, ask what the child would like to find out next. The answer may point to another theme, an off-screen experiment with an adult, or a book to read together. A small discovery is a starting point, not a requirement to finish everything.
